Interesting Day of Learning

I audited a workshop, Advancing Liberty, with Berin MacFarlane this morning and I have much to think about. Berin introduced us to some key concepts to developing our liberty play with our horses, beginning online and transitioning to liberty play; how to develop the solid foundation that will lead to success at liberty, how to know when it's time to advance a skill (speed, distance, zone). Watching everyone play with their horses this morning, I came to the realization I don't hang in there long enough with Renegade (more on this later), and I tend to introduce new concepts to quickly, before we're solid with the current skill. Sheesh...such a balancing act with two LBE's (me and Renegade), how to keep either of us from getting bored but manage to stick with something long enough to get really good at it!!

I have thoughts to gather and notes to type up; as soon as I'm done I'm going to post them here.

Hi Kathy, Just read thru 10 or so of your blog posts and just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed them. Great notes and thoughts! I just had a couple lessons with Kathy Baar and Kathy suggested to go back online to "fix" our hindquarter disengagement to improve our liberty. Hmm, how interesting :-)

Hi Petra, thank you for the lovely comments; I'm honored you read my blog AND enjoyed it!!

The hq yield has always been a bug a boo for us since the very beginning. We've gotten MUCH better since way back when but have alot of improving to do. I remember when Kathy was still Ackerman and she reviewed my L1 (Red Box) video; one of her comments was to drive the hq more and do less sooner!! That has stuck with me all this time; thing is...if I'm still having a problem with it, I must not be effective OR maybe I'm not consistent??!!:-( You're right...hummmm, how interesting!!
