Only one more day to go before I leave for the Rendezvous in Jacksonville and I can hardly wait. I'm getting excited to see how Renegade and I will do in this newest adventure. This is quite out of both our comfort zones and I'm banking on our relationship being good/strong enough that we'll be fine.
Speaking of things that take us out of our comfort zone, we've been doing alot of that lately: learning to canter in an arena then out in "the big wide open", doing the obstacle challenge at Black Prong, the ACTHA competetive trail challenge last Sunday, and now the Rendezvous. I'm wondering though, what horse will show up for me!! We'll see on Thursday lol!!
The ACTHA scores were posted tonight and out of 13 horse and rider pairs, Renegade and I came in last. ACTHA gives the horse and the rider individual scores and combine those for a total. Renegade got a score of 30 and I got a score of 32 for a total of 62 out of 120. I knew going in to the competition we probably weren't going to place very high but I wanted to do it for the experience and exposure. Doing this competition also let me know, just as I thought, where I need to do more teaching, where we need more practice, and what I need to refine. All that being said, I am really pleased with everything we did do and all the things that went well.
Wow though...between the workshops I've been to and audited and the obstacle challenges, I have a laundry list of things to work/play with all winter long. I can see it's going to be a busy fall/winter/spring!! WHOOPEE!!!!!!!

Awww...I'm sorry you're not going to be at the Rendezvous Petra. I was so hoping to meet you. Ah well, I suppose we'll meet somewhere, sometime!! I don't know if I'm going to be able to blog while at the Rendezvous; I won't have computer access and I'm hoping my phone will get a signal from there!! I'll be sure and look up Brett and Elizabeth; I'm looking foward to meeting them!!
Thanks for the blog suggestion. I took a peek and read the first entry...it's great!! When I get a bit more time, I'll going to read more but right now I have to finish packing. We're leaving in the morning for Jacksonville.

I saw that you are now following my blog (happytrailsnaturalhorse.blogspot.com) so I decided to check yours out! I really enjoyed reading about your experience. Aren't ACTHA rides fun? Sounds as though your obstacles were way harder than mine. ;-)
I was really hoping to get to the Rendezvous too but it was not possible this year. I *really* hope that they do it again in Jacksonville next fall. I'd love to bring Guinness down! Please let us know how it goes.

Wow I'm having a great time at the Rendezvous with Renegade, he's doing awesome amid all the activity. He's handling everything well, I think he can feel the savvy in the air!!! We did a liberty tournament that didn't go so well but our freestyle spotlight was fantastic for our first time. We got a 2+ and a blue ribbon!!! Dave Ellis and Berin MacFARLANE were the judges!!!
I'll blog more about it when I get home but for now I'm still smiling thinking about our day!!!
