Gotta love those LB'ers. Tried **this** with Renegade tonight and couldn't get even a quarter of a circle at the walk let alone a trot lol!! So...I stood up to send more energy...still nada...hummmm how interesting. Absolutely no go tonight!! Needing to think about this, I decided to use Renegade's not wanting to move his feet with any speed or energy to my advantage so played with leading by the ear and chin, and stick to me at the walk, focusing on his position to my shoulder. Being particular about this caused him to stick to me better and we ended up trotting with me in zone 2-3!! We've been still playing with the draw your horse backwards and tonight Renegade finally started to get into it, he was enjoying the butt scratches and backing up into them!! We backed about 20 steps!! Even though I had to revise my play plan tonight, we still managed to improve on several things!!
Also gotta love those RB'ers. Played with Bert tonight; he's soooo different than Renegade. He's light, responsive to the point of being over reactive at times. I've been playing with retreat while doing the friendly game with stick and string and Bert's following me with much more confidence now and he's not at the end of the 12' line behind me!! On the circle I played with how much or how little energy it took to send him out on the circle. We got good at reading each other and just by playing with energy I could send him at a walk or a trot and it took very little energy to do either. He was soft on the circle, his head is still a little high but he's learning to relax out there. Got two nice circles in either direction. Also did sideways along the fence, had to slow it way down to give him time to think and he did great. Squeeze over the barrels was good too; I had him on the 45' line and was using a little over 1/2 of it!!
**I came back to edit this post because I realized I didn't explain what **this** is!! This = sitting on a barrel and sending your horse out on a circle for two laps in each direction and bridling/unbridling your horse while sitting on a barrel.

Yes, I am getting a well rounded education and actually I have 4 horses, one of each horsenality type. Don't ask me how that happened...well, I guess I do know how it happened; I picked the LB'ers and was given the RB'ers. Would probably never have picked RB horses if it were left up to me but I'm glad I have them, they've taught me so much already!!
